This was a year of diverse activities.
Two new members, Judy McGown and Dianne Wiseman, were welcomed.
They held two market day stalls, a mystery raffle, a two-day CWA Awareness stand at the Riverina Vintage Machinery Field days, packed 18 toiletry bags and a Christmas hamper of food, gifts and toys for the Griffith Women’s Refuge, presented a citizenship award to a student at St Peter’s Primary School and two scholarships to Coleambally Central School students.
Members attended all Sturt Group meetings and functions and state conference and also a state information meeting.
There was also local Australia Day celebrations and the Anzac Day Service.
At the recent Sturt group conference, two members, Dorothy Meyer and Jean Mills, were honoured by being presented with Life Membership for many years of wonderful service and dedication.
Sue Inglis was awarded best Cultural Book and Dawn Street the best floral table arrangement.
Two members are group officers and one a choir member.
Dianne Wiseman presided for the elections: President - Beverley Rose-Wiseman; vice-presidents - Margaret Sheppard, Teresa Stewart; secretary - Sue Inglis; agriculture and environment - Beverley Rose-Wiseman; handicraft - Joy Lovell; land cookery - Dorothy Meyer; cultural - Teresa Stewart; work, health and safety - Sue Inglis; publicity - Margaret Sheppard; council representatives - Teresa Stewart, Margaret Sheppard; auditor - Ken Martin.
It was moved that meetings remain the same on the second Friday of the month at 1.30pm at Coleambally Community Club.
Sue Inglis received the President’s Award for the highest number of points for activities during the meetings.
At the ordinary meeting, the branch entry of a wall hanging for group handicraft day in March was further discussed and is being commenced.
The Market Day cake stall at the Community Hall on November 9 was organised – contributions by members and helpers needed please.
A guest speaker is planned for the next meeting and toiletry bags for Griffith Women’s Refuge will be packed.
The next meeting is Friday, November 8 at 1.30pm at Coleambally Community Club.
Following this month’s meeting, the branch’s 40th birthday was celebrated with a delicious cake made by Teresa Stewart.
