It's 1860 kilometres one way. There are 4500 square bales and rolls of hay. Two hundred and sixty-five drought-stricken properties. There are 138 trailers. Countless days of phone calls and emails.
And a hell of a lot of heart.
Fourth-generation NSW farmer Brendan Farrell has been thinking a lot about his counterparts in Queensland, particularly those in the west, where the state's worst-ever drought has driven hundreds of producers to the brink.
He decided to do something about it, after reading an article in November 2013 about a "young family struggling to survive" in Bourke in NSW's north-west, which has been struggling under its own drought conditions.
Speaking about it with his uncle and other relatives, the Stanbridge farmer decided to do something about it, and just three months later had organised the first Burrumbuttock Hay Run to help that family out.
"We just thought, 'we have hay, we have a truck' and it would help ease the pressure, and let their kids know that there are still good people in the world trying to help people," he said from his central Riverina property.
"We were just going to take one truck, but we ended up with 22 trucks. That made us think we could do more."
Having completed nine hay runs since then, Mr Farrell said learning more about the Queensland drought, which has a record 86 per cent of the state in its grip, led him to decide to do something for those families as well.
Four-and-a-half months later – "a lot of money on the phone, a lot of nights on the phone, emails, permits, I can't even think of all the time, my wife doesn't let me see the phone bills" – and Mr Farrell and more than 100 others are almost ready to embark on a record-setting convoy to take much-needed supplies – and more crucially, hope – to Queensland farmers who need as much as possible of both.
"My plan is to let everyone know this drought is still happening," he said.
"It is just letting third-, fourth-generation farmers know that there are still people who care, whether it is my organisation or other people – people are still helping.
"It is keeping the dream alive, that is all we are doing."
In conjunction with the Chinchilla-based Drought Angels, Mr Farrell, who has largely organised the hay drive by himself – "I don't have time for a committee" – will leave with most of the trucks from Darlington Point, near Griffith, on January 7.
From there, the hay runners will pick up others along the way, with three-trailer road trains joining the convoy at Cobar, before heading north to Aramac, near Barcaldine in Queensland's central west, making three stops over two days on the 1860 kilometre one-way journey.
"We're feeding their stock, but we are also taking up entertainment to feed the soul as well," he said. "Just to give them three or four hours off the farm so they can forget about the drought – it's important, really important."
Good-quality hay has been donated from "all over", with a fundraising drive still ongoing to help cover the cost of fuel for those who have donated their rigs and time to the run.
"We are not subsidised by the government or anything," Mr Farrell said. "We're trying to make it as easy as possible for those helping out, to limit those out-of-pocket costs as much as we can."
The journey is estimated to cost each truck at least $2000 in fuel. Donations are still being accepted through the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners Facebook page or the Drought Angels.
The convoy, which will stretch about 50 kilometres, could also set a Guinness World Record, with Mr Farrell speaking to the records body about the feat.
"There are 138 trailers who have donated hay going that distance, there is no record of it being done before, so it will make a record," he said.
"And I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to attempt it again."
