Riverina MP Michael McCormack
A DAY after losing the deputy premiership vote, Riverina MP Michael McCormack was appointed to assistant minister for defence early Saturday afternoon.
Just one day earlier, Mr McCormack was beaten by Fiona Nash as Nationals deputy leader, in the wake of the seat being vacated by Barnaby Joyce, who was elected unopposed as party leader.
Senator Marise Payne is the defence minister and Dan Techan the minister for veterans’ affairs and defence material.
