Whether you voted at Darlington Point or Coleambally on Saturday, you would have seen a few welcoming faces at the door.
Both the 2RG Sunshine Club and the Australian Red Cross were out in force with a smile on their dial.
Steven Ford and Heather Agostino were doing their shifts shortly after lunch time and said it was just good to help out.
“We’re the only one (Sunshine Club) left in NSW,” Ms Agostino said.
“I’ve been doing this for nearly 15 years and we don't really make a lot of money any more.
“We do get to hold these raffles for the elections and maybe our Christmas one and what money we do raise goes to Careflight and the Murrumbidgee Diabetes Association.”
Far from the club’s heyday when it boasted close to 350 members, the remaining dozen-or-so members have still continued to add to the $60,000-plus raised for their chosen charity groups.
“The profits either stay here or in Griffith,” Steven Ford said. “So it all stays local.”
