PROPER PRACTICE: CottonInfo will be hosting an information night to help farmers better deal with pests after a wet start to the season.
CottonInfo and the Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) are hosting a workshop in Darlington Point on November 21 to help growers deal with pests.
Pests could be a challenge for growers this summer, resulting in a potential over reliance on insecticides.
Experts on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) including Dr Lewis Wilson of CSIRO, will hold workshops encouraging growers to consider their strategies.
“An over reliance on insecticides to help manage pests can have very serious consequences,” CRDC Research and Development Manager,” Susan Maas said.
“Issues can be avoided through the more sustainable pest control measures and still get a high yielding crop.”
