Knowing a loss meant their season was over the Roosters came out firing and three tries within the first 10 minutes of the second half proved to be the difference as they came away with a 40-22 win.
Josh Veivers opened the scoring for the Roosters after finding away through the Greens defence before coach Ryan McGoldrick followed suit after a dart from first receiver saw him find a hole to get to the line.
The Leeton side was finally able to break their duck after a period of sustained pressure on the Roosters line, and Danny Maskill made the most of a dart from dummy half.
Maskill had a second just before the break to see the Greens go into half time with a 2-point deficit.
It was a much improved Roosters side which came out in the second half scoring three quick tries through Tony Leadbitter, Jonathan Walker and McGoldrick saw them move out to a 20-point lead.
Leeton coach Brent Pike tried to lead a fight back however it was too little too late as the Roosters maintained their advantage despite the Greens best efforts.
Roosters’ Nick Briggs made the most of a mistake by the Greens inside their defensive 20 before Issac Collins crossed for a consolation try for the Greens to leave the scoreline at 40-22.
McGoldrick was pleased with the performance his side showed in the second half.
“She was pretty scratchy late in the second half, but I thought the first 20 or 30 minutes of the second half were pretty good,” he said.
“If we can play like that we are going to give ourselves a chance to be in the contest.”

- Coach Ryan McGoldrick
The coach said it came down to his side finding some consistency in their play.
“I thought we lacked a bit of confidence in the last bit of the first half and mainly we had to be positive,” he said.
“If we could be positive like we were in the first twenty we would be alright.
“We are a really inconsistent side so the more consistency we can get in our game the better.
“The comp is real even with the Tahs probably being the standouts at this stage.”
The Roosters will now prepare for next weekend where they will meet the loser of Waratahs and TLU.
