The new year will see construction of large-scale solar farms around the council area.
The Big Opportunities for Small Businesses forum has been hailed a success, with a wide cross-section of the community in attendance.
It outlined both local and regional opportunities to supply developers across a number of industries.
Businesses have now been entered into a Capability Database which has been referred to solar farm developers and to the Industry Capability Network.

Council’s Economic, Tourism and Community Development Manager Gerrie Carr-MacFie was excited to see so many businesses represented.
“It was a great event especially for our small businesses looking for opportunities to supply services or provide trades to upcoming developments,” Ms Carr-MacFie said.
“I thank all of those who took the time to come along and the presenters for providing detailed information. I have no doubt everyone went away knowing more about the potential these solar projects present.”
The solar farm project is expected to create around 300 jobs during construction, with seven ongoing operational roles to be filled once the construction is finished.
The construction of the Coleambally Solar Farm will be followed by a second development by Edify Energy in Darlington Point.
It’s estimated construction will begin in the later half of 2018 with the addition of five jobs post-construction.
