Playgroup Coordinator Mel Shepard says this is the year the group really wants to get out into the community.
“We’re focusing on getting ourselves out there and into the community and getting more kids out to play,” she said.
“It’s predominately aimed at kids, but it’s also great for caregivers.”
There will also be themed crafts for the kids around Australia Day and Valentines Day.

The playgroup currently attracts between 10 – 15 children per week.
“It also helps the kids make friends at a younger age. These are the kids they’re going to preschool and school with,” she said.
“Great friendships are formed here.”
But it’s not just for the kids, parents and caregivers can also benefit from the playgroup.
“Because we’re an isolated community, it’s hard to find places for people to get out with their kids. We can offer that,” she said.
“We’re looking at a few different things this year… We’re looking into getting a few speakers in to talk about mental health and things like early warning signs.”
The playgroup runs every Wednesday from 10am – 12pm at the Coleambally Youth Hall, next to the preschool.
