Wednesday saw 14 new kindergarten students embark on their first day of school.
Mothers Jane McIntyre and Samantha Greenwood both have children entering their first year of school in 2018.
According to her mother, Dakota Greenwood, aged 5, was beyond excited for her first day at “big school”.
“She was absolutely ecstatic to be starting school. She was up at 6am, already dressed and ready to get going,” she said.
“Dakota did the transition and absolutely loved it.”
With her brother already attending Coleambally Central School, it wasn’t a completely unfamiliar environment.
“She’s been around the school a little bit … The transition program definitely helps them get used to things as well.”

Ms McIntyre’s twin daughters Phoebe and Harriet are in the same class as Dakota. They’re also joining their older sister at school.
According to Ms McIntyre, the girls were each anticipating the big day in their own way.
“I’ve got two starting this year. One was very excited and the other was a little apprehensive,” she said.
The children attended a transition day last December to help get them ready for the big move.
“They’ve been here a few times now. It’s almost a walk in the park for them. The transition program is a really great way for them to familiarise themselves with the environment and get to know the school.”
Ms Greenwood, whose family made the move to Coleambally not too long ago, says the school has already made a lasting impression.
“We haven’t been living in Coleambally that long and we think the school is fantastic, the community is really welcoming and it’s all been great.
