The school has not only welcomed a new kindergarten class, but a new principal has joined it’s ranks.
Brian Conroy is no stranger to the area. He has been teaching at St Joseph’s Primary School in Leeton for the past 12 years.
He says he feels “privileged” to take over the role.
“I feel really lucky and very priveliged to get the opportunity to come out to Coleambally at become Principal at this wonderful school,” he said.
“I’m feeling a little nervous, but very excited. There’s lots to learn and it’s something I’m looking forward to.”
“I love coming here every day and seeing the lovely smiles on the kids. I think it’s important to build quality relationships with the families and staff.
While Mr Conroy has only been in the role for a few weeks, Coly is already making an impression. He says the school staff have been absolutely fantastic.

“The staff are wonderful. They’ve been very welcoming here and they’ve made me feel at home. Anything questions that have popped up, they’ve been able to support me in my role and hopefully I can support them in their roles.”
Mr Conroy is taking over from Daniel Tuohey, who moved on from St Peter’s after 14 years as Principal.
He says there are some exciting things in the works.
“We’re looking at building a multi-purpose court out on the oval. It will allow kids to play things like basketball, netball and handball.”
“We also have some new technology coming into the school with some display TVs that allow students to cast from their chrome books.”
Getting to know the wider community is also important to Mr Conroy.
“It’s a high on the priority list. I do have some relatives in the area. It always helps as a bit of an icebreaker. ... I just want to make sure I’m a presence here.”
