The competition came down to the final round of the doubles tournament, with Coly besting their opponents with eight wins to Wagga’s seven.
Coleambally Squash Club’s Cate Hardy said everyone was thrilled with the end result.
“In an act of genuine good sportsmanship, all of the top players from Wagga stayed home and only two of Coly’s top players participated,” she said.
“Everyone was really well matched in terms of talent and ability. It was just a great day.”
Among the highlights for the day were Kellie Pound and Perry Hardy, who each won two of three matches in their singles competition.
Coleambally teams were also successful in every doubles match played.

“The day could have gone to either team. It came right down to the doubles.”
The competition sees around 20 clubs from NSW and Victoria come together. Each team is designated into one of four zones.
Coleambally along with Leeton, Hay, Deniliquin and Finley have formed Riverina West.
Wagga, Cootamundra, Boorowa, Young, Temora and Grenfell make up Riverina East.
The inter-town competition will see matches played within zones, before winners play off for the overall title.
Ms Hardy says she’d encourage anyone who was a bit curious about squash to come down and have a go.
“I think this weekend proved you don’t have to be the best or the most experience player to come down and enjoy a game of squash,” she said.
“It’s a good way to get out and meet some new people. We’re really keen to get some new people in and around the sport.”
The Coleambally Squash Club has been running for four four decades and hosts around 30 members.
She says the competition is less about a trophy and more about getting out and enjoying the game.
“That’s why we set it up the way we did, so anyone could feel they would be capable of getting in and having a crack.”
Ms Hardy says rather than basing each month’s team on skill alone, they will be picked according to the dedication and willingness of players.
Games are expected to be held every four to six weeks and grand finals have been scheduled for December.
Coleambally will play their next round against Cowra-Grenfell in Temora on March 18.
