It was another successful year, with over 1400 race goers going through the gates, which pleased Carrathool Jockey club president  Mike Armstrong.

“The weather was not a drama, it was a little bit warm … we had a few dramas with power as we always do at the start of the day, but it actually all went well.” he said.

Mr Armstrong made a special presentation to Bruce Armstrong and “Frog” Edwards, making them life members of the club.

Between the two they have 70 years of experience with the organisation, bringing their experiences and expertise to the event every year.    

“’Frog’ does the barrier attendants job so he knows what he has to do and we know there are no hassles,” Mr Armstrong said. “The same with Bruce on the committee he knows whats got to be done and he gets it done.”

It wouldn’t be a race meet without the celebration of the fashions on the field and this year was no exception with organizers delighted saying the competitors out did themselves again in 2018.

Best dressed gentlemen was taken out by Dylan king, Kate Drury was the belle of the boughshed, couple of the day went to Emily Neville and William Anotts and Emma Wells was crowned best dressed lady.

For the perfect climax to what was a fun-filled day, veteran and four-time winner Charlie Masters crossed the finish line first for the Jillaroo dash, with newcomer Bryce Pini powering to a strong finish for the Jackaroos.
