Royal success for Riverina team

A TEAM of Riverina riders from Coleambally, Griffith and Wagga enjoyed success at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

The inter area pony club showjumping contest was made up of four riders who participated in a teams event.

Just qualifying to make the journey to Sydney Royal Easter Show is considered a major feat in any discipline. 

The team of riders represented what is known as Area 5 and the team was made up of Chloe Mannell, Lake Albert, Ryleigh O’Hare, also Lake Albert, Rebecca Groat, Griffith and Riley Whyman, Coleambally.  

The team earned a pleasing second in the competition and Riley Whyman was named best boy rider in the event. 

Area 5 president and secretary Vicki Whyman said it was a great accomplishment.

“It is the best a team (from this region) has done for a number of years … the competition came down to one or two rails,” she said. 

She said it was an extremely close event.
