A Coleambally farmer has been given a unique opportunity after being announced as the recipient of a $55,000 leadership scholarship.

John Durham has been selected as one of 31 participants to take part in a 15-month leadership program, which will take him across Australia.
Mr Durham said he was excited to be selected as part of the program.
“I am really looking forward to participating in the program and developing my leadership skills over the 15-month period and in turn, positively contribute to the cotton industry,” he said.

The scholarship is jointly funded by Cotton Australia, the Cotton Research and Development Corporation and Auscott.
“I’m extremely grateful to these organisations for providing me with a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he said.
Mr Durham will kick off the first session of his scholarship in Darwin before travelling to the Kimberley region in WA.
Southern Cotton General Manager Kate O’Callaghan said she was proud of Mr Durham’s selection for the scholarship.
“A key objective of the Southern Cotton businesses is to nurture the next generation of agricultural leaders, and we see John as one of the rising stars of the cotton industry,” she said.
“We’re really proud of his selection and looking forward to supporting him throughout the program.”
