The Mallee Men returned home victorious in the seniors, after defeating DPC 32 – 24.
There was little to separate the two sides, and a try to Roosters’ Morgan Punchard saw the teams separated by only eight points at halftime.
DPC scored the first two tries of the second half before the Mallee Men responded and with 18 minutes to go the margin was two points.
The visitors secured the win with a try with 11 minutes left. A solid effort from the reserve grade saw the team build on last week’s win, coming away with two points and a 18 – 4 victory.

Reserve grade coach Andrew Herbert was happy with the his side’s result. Unable to pick a single standout, he praised the work of his forwards.
“It was really good. We were pretty happy with that. We started a bit slow, but we held them out for most of the match,” he said.
“A lot of our forwards got my votes. Again, we had a few guys play pretty much a full game of reserve grade and then moved to the seniors to play again.”

DPC kept West Wyalong from scoring for the majority of the match, barring a single try late in the second half. While it’s still early in the season, Herbert says the wins from the last two weeks put the side in good stead for the weeks ahead.
A similar success story in the under 18’s side saw the team come away with a huge 36 – 12 against West Wyalong. This weekend will see the Roosters’ sides take on Yenda.
