The Blueheelers were able to make an instant impact as they raced out to a 12-0 lead inside the first eight minutes.

They added to their lead shortly after when Chris Latu was able to score his first of the game as he used his strength to get across the line.

The Roosters were finally able to get themselves on the board after Josh Veivers got across the try line after a short run. Yenda didn’t take their foot off the pedal and after a mistake from the DPC defenders they were in under the post thanks to Stephan Broome.

Veivers crossed again as the Roosters capitalised on some ill-discipline before reducing the gap to 12-points just before halftime when Johnny Walker found his way across the line.

The break did little to halt the momentum from the Roosters as the gap was back to eight points when Jack Mead found his way across the line.

Yenda worked their way back into the game through their forwards and reestablished their lead thanks to tries from Tongia Fox and Latu before Fox was sent to the sin-bin with 23 minutes remaining.

Even with only 12-men on the field, Yenda were able to keep building their lead and co-coach Willie Lolohea though it was the wake up call his side needed.

“We needed a lift in the second half,” he said.

“We knew we were missing one person, so we had to work extra hard to get the result we needed today.”

Yenda got out to a 52-22 lead after Tyrone Beitaki scored his second of the game while after a strong run from Latu, Michael Mogliotti was able to score his first of the match.

Luke Hogan scored a consolation try for the Roosters before Beitaki completed his hat-trick with a try on the siren to see his side come away with the 32-point win.

Lolohea was full of praise for the young winger.

“He (Beitaki) on debut and is only 17,” he said.

“We were missing three blokes, so we were struggling for numbers, and our younger ones stepped up.”

The co-coach was also full of praise for the hard work his big men displayed throughout the game.

“We are very happy with our forwards, Chris Latu, Tongia (Fox), big Shaq (Jakeman), and also Salu Musu,” he said.

“We just got that roll on, and they helped that backs out, and we worked straight off that.”

Yenda will now set their sights on the struggling defending premiers while DPC will have two weeks off with the bye followed by the June long weekend.
