Among the festivities is the highly-anticipated birthday billy cart races, complete with a new track.
Event organiser Adrian Hayes said he’d had great community response so far.
“There are four age groups. We’ll run heats so everyone gets a few runs,” he said.
“In the past it’s been at a different location. This year we thought if we could bring them up to the water tower and race them down the street it keeps everything central.”
The track will go from near the water tower to the uniting church and hall. Market stalls will be a short distance away along the main street, keeping the centre of town very busy throughout Sunday.
Mr Hayes said the fun isn’t just for the kids. Age groups cater for residents and visitors of all ages.
“There’s been a lot of interest. We’ve had a lot on inquiry. A lot of people are excited about it, particularly young kids and not-so-young kids,” he said.
“There will be an opportunity to older members of the community to have a go if they wish.”
Trophies are on offer for the weekend – as well as the weekend’s best billy cart.
“And the honour of the winning title of course.”
While he has around around a dozen entrants so far, Mr Hayes said he expects them to roll in over the next couple of days.
Participants don’t even need their own billy cart to join in on the fun.
“We’ll also have billy carts available on the day for anyone who hasn’t built one. They’ll be able to come along on the day and have a race.”
Registrations can be made in the lead up and on the day. Participants are ranked in four age groups: nine years and under, ages 10 – 13 years, 14 – 17 years and 17 years and older.
“We want everyone to have some fun. They’ve got to have more than one race,” he said.
“We’ll do a heat so faster carts in the age group will wind up racing against each other.”
School reunions, vintage wedding dresses, tours of surrounding farms – as well as the famous parade and fireworks display – are just some of what’s on offer over the course of the weekend.
