“I was born in September of 1968, so I think I may have been the first Coleambally baby,” she said.
“I grew up here, went to school here right through until year 12 and live in Griffith now. I’ve come back for the weekend. It’s a very special part of the world.”
Now back in Coleambally for the 50th birthday, she and two other former residents came home to play a unique role.
Dr Reeves, Keith Fletcher and Gina Busby (nee Lorenz) were given the honour of digging up the Coleambally time capsule, last seen at the town’s 40th anniversary.
“We found all sorts of things, letters to people’s grandchildren, funeral notices, details from the 40th anniversary, football memorabilia,” she said.
”Every year they’ll add something different.”

Birthday committee member Lynne Stuckings said there is still an opportunity for the community to contribute to the time capsule.
“We went to the time capsule we buried at the 40th birthday. Today it was dug up by residents who were born in the same year the town was opened, so that made things extra special,” she said.
“We won’t seal it for a couple of weeks. We want to collect some photos and anything else people would like to put in,” she said.
