Relieving Head Teacher of Maths, HSIE, and PDHPE Brett Burton, along with students from years 10, 11 and 12, visited the event to explore the different universities and employment agencies.
“It was an opportunity for students to have access and be exposed to pathways beyond school,” Mr Burton said.
Students got the chance to talk to teachers, work agencies, and others to learn more about employment opportunities and opportunities for further learning at a university level.
Mr Burton said the students got a lot out of it as a few were uncertain as to what they would do after leaving high school.
“They weren’t sure what they were going to do, or they only had an idea of what they were going to do, and it just gave them the opportunity to reinforce their decisions,” he said.
Exhibitors such as the police, The Defence Force, businesses big and small, and a number of universities and other vocation providers were on hand to offer options and different pathways for the visiting students.
There were also exhibitors such as gap year volunteer programs
Mr Burton said he was pleased to see universities such as Latrobe, Charles Sturt University, and the University of Wollongong at the careers expo.
The Western Riverina Careers Expo was also open to members of the public looking for a new career path.
