Small-talk about the weather would have been positive this week, with the mercury rising to almost 19 degrees on Thursday.
While parts of the region were experiencing the warmest day in close to six weeks according to Weatherzone, it was still not the warmest on record, with a July day reaching 23.2 degrees in 1975.
But winter’s warm relief is set to be short-lived, with the Bureau of Meteorology this week predicting a chilly cold snap to strike.
The vigorous cold front from Friday could bring a burst of heavy snow to alpine areas as low as 1000 metres, which could include Laurel Hill, sitting 1020 metres above sea level.
