The $10,000 will go toward helping local people who are living with cancer. Coleambally CanAssist President Margaret Cobden said the group were more than grateful for the donation.
“We’re very much appreciative and thankful for what they did for us. It was wonderful to receive,” she said.
“We’d very much like to say thank-you. We’re very grateful.”
A member of the local branch said the “inspiring and far reaching impact of the work undertaken by Coleambally CanAssist” was a huge part of the reason they were chosen for the grant.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support organisations like CAN Assist in the important work they do for our local community,” Bianca Shaw said.
“It’s especially meaningful that we are able to celebrate 100 years of employee giving, by nominating an organisation to receive a Centenary Grant in our local community.”

CanAssist was established in 1955 and serves people across regional NSW. According to Mrs Cobden, the Coleambally branch is currently supporting around eight people.
According to the organisation’s website it’s members aim to ensure "that all people, regardless of where they live, have access to cancer treatment and care”.
Mrs Cobden explained they provide care in a number of ways.
“We help cancer patients in our area with support, travel and accommodation when they have to go away for treatment,” she said.
“We were approached by the bank in February and asked if we would like to apply for the grant, and we did.”
She also paid tribute to the hardworking volunteers who are responsible for a lot of work behind the scenes.
“We’ve got some very hardworking ladies who are always there to help out and raise funds for our cause,” she said.
