Stephen Maguire won the $30,000 regional final for two-year-old colts and geldings with Major Roll, Million Dollar Gem won the four-year-old mares final for Brett Woodhouse while Geldof won the four-year-old entires and geldings final for Ellen Bartley.
It caps off a strong juvenile season for Major Roll who won the MIA Breeders Plate final in January.
The Mirrool trainer was pleased with his efforts and setting well on the front runners.
“I was hoping to be a bit closer than that but when that horse galloped it changed plans for us,” Maguire said.
“They run a long a bit and I wasn’t that confident with a lap to go but they came back to him and once we turned and straightened up he finish the job off real good.”
He clocked a career best mile rate of 1:56.6 on his way to defeating Tretyakov by 2.2 metres.
Major Roll will now head to the paddock with five wins and a placing from his eight starts and just under $60,000 in earnings.
Million Dollar Gem and Geldof both improved on third place finishes in the heats mid week for their Group Three wins.
Geldof made it three wins in four starts since joining Bartley’s stable with a strong win while Million Dollar Gem claimed a thriller, downing Make Mine Heaven by a head.
Steven Harris also claimed success on the day with Whereyabinboppin an impressive winner of the two-year-old consolation.
