MURRUMBIDGEE Council will see a new general manager join its ranks. John Scarce will take over the role from Craig Moffitt, who has been with council for 13 years.

The comprehensive recruitment process saw 21 applicants narrowed down to three final candidates.
The final decision was made at an extraordinary meeting of council held on August 22.
Murrumbidgee mayor Ruth McRae welcomed Mr Scarce to the council area.

She said he had unique experience that would suit him well for his future job.
“John’s very diverse career as General Manager of rural, urban, remote and indigenous councils, will stand him in good stead for the challenges faced by our small rural council,” she said.
Cr McRae said she looks forward to welcoming him to the team.
“His strong advocacy for all things community, especially economic and community development, will ensure he is warmly welcomed by the residents of our local government area.”
Mr Scarce brings over 25 years in local government experience within Australia to the role. Additionally, his most recent experience saw him take on the role as city manager for the city of Morden in Manitoba, Canada.
He has also help positions across state government task forces and boards which shape legislation and regulations specific to local governments.
Aside from his extensive government experience, Mr Scarce boasts a lifelong passion for sport and an enduring love for the St. Kilda Football Club.
