And not just these towns, but the whole region along the Kidman Way, helping travellers ‘backtrack to the outback’, with a promotional committee releasing the all-you-need-to know guide.
Made up of five councils, The Kidman Way Promotional Committee includes Murrumbidgee, Griffith, Carrathool, Cobar and Bourke.
One of the many grey nomads travelling around the region at the moment is Tony Stutz, who said the guide was the perfect example of great tourism.
“Me and my wife have done the Kidman Way before, and it’s a great drive with so many things to see and do,” Mr Stutz said.
“Having a guide like this really makes it easy to find all those things you may have missed, a handy pocket guide for those looking for their next adventure.”
According to committee member Paige Campbell, the Kidman Way is an important north south touring route providing travellers with a quiet, scenic, sealed road through the centre of New South Wales.
The many magnificent National Parks, including the rock art at Gundabooka, recognised as one of the best sites in Australia, and great spots for bird watching and wildflowers, are showcased in the new guidebook. The guide also provides details about the top places to fish along the Murrumbidgee, Lachlan or Darling Rivers and information about the various industries keeping the region prosperous.
Seek out the Seven Wonders section of each area for points of interest and quirky facts and figures. The Kidman Way explores many interesting towns and villages, from Jerilderie in the south to Bourke in the north. The new guides are available at the nearest Visitor Information Centre.
