Griffith Show
Support the local show on Sunday and head out for a day of rides and sideshow alley. As well as the thrill of the rides, take in the dog jump, local exhibits, kids entertainment in Woodside Hall, equestrian events and more. Junior Showgirl, Show Beau and Show Bloke entries taken on the day and judging commences at noon. Entry $10 for adults, $5 for children aged 4 to 16 and free for under fours.
Good Old Days
Up to 6000 people from across the country are expected to turn out for the Good Old Days weekend at Barellan showground on Saturday and Sunday. A highlight this year will be the inaugural Furphy Festival, featuring 70 furphys of all different models, as well as stalls, old style games, scone making, ring events, dog trials, camel racing, campfire entertainment and more.
Biggest Lap
Join in behind the wheel or watch from the Banna Avenue footpaths as the annual Griffith’s Biggest Lap takes over the town on Saturday evening. The event sees hundreds of vehicles celebrate classic car culture in Griffith while raising money for Can Assist and Riding for the Disabled. Marshalling starts at 4pm at the corner of Banna Avenue and Lenehan Road before the big lap begins.
Deni Ute Muster
More than 15,000 people are expected to head to Deniliquin’s annual celebration of all things Australian on Friday and Saturday. American country music superstar Carrie Underwood is headlining the 2018 muster on Saturday night, with Thirsty Merc owning the main stage on Friday night. Tickets available at deniutemuster.com.au.
Wagga Picnics
Racing fans can get an extra day at the track in before the Cootamundra Cup by heading the the Wagga picnics on Saturday. The annual race day raises money for Country Hope and features a six-race card, full TAB coverage and fashions on the field. Murrumbidgee Turf Club gates open at noon.
Josh Hanlon fundraiser
Wagga’s McPherson Oval will be the place to be on AFL grand final day as North Wagga, Tullibigeal and Ganmain Grong Grong Matong football clubs band together to support their mate. A fundraiser dubbed The Josh Hanlon Chookhana has been organised to help support the injured North Wagga footballer. There’ll be live music, kids activities, AFL super skills pop-up park, bands, major auction, and of course the grand final. Begins 10am.
