THE School Merino Wether Challenge 2018 is an annual competition by NSW Stud Merino Breeders Association to provide young people with experience in the merino industry.
This year Edgelabra Stud, Warren, provided a flock of 400 merino wethers which were divided among 36 schools.
Coleambally Central School Stage 6 Agriculture worked on quietening and halter training the sheep, making sure feed rations were accurate, chipping burrs and weeds out of the paddock, and maintaining clean water troughs.
Coleambally took out equal second in the sheep value projection class with Gulgong High School. Red Bend Catholic College, Forbes, took out first place.
