The Blues have got their recruitment campaign off to a brilliant start with the addition of four accomplished footballers.

Steele, Charlie McAdam, Shaun Light and Dylan Hore have all signed with Coleambally, just weeks after the club unveiled Luke Hillier as their new co-coach alongside Mitch Carroll.

Steele arrives after two seasons at Hume League club Holbrook, including one as assistant coach, but before that established himself as one of the most exciting players in the Riverina League.

Carroll is thrilled to bring his former Lions teammate to Coleambally.

“Curtis will be really big for us,” Carroll said.

“I put in a hopeful phone call about a month ago, thinking the worst he can say is no.

“We wanted to bring him in for his experience and his on-field leadership as well. He’ll play on-ball and up forward and just his speed and ball use will be very handy.

“With his experience as a premiership player, he’ll be able to provide guidance for the young guys coming through.”

McAdam played four games with Coleambally as a travelling player in 2017.

A premiership player with Southern District in the Northern Territory competition earlier this year, McAdam will move to Coleambally and share assistant coach duties with Tom Groves.

He is also expected to bring some players with him.

Hore spent this season at Hume League club Henty, while Light was Coleambally’s 2016 best and fairest winner and had this season off after originally returning to Narrandera.

Carroll expects Coleambally to have a different look about them next year.

“They’re quality players and they add a bit more speed as well,” he said.

“We’ll go from the traditional bigger bodied, older, slower, usual Coleambally team to a bit more of a running team, which will be good and it should be exciting.”

Carroll is pleased to make such a strong start to off-season recruitment.

“It’s hard. We rang blokes early days because we knew we had to do a fair bit and it wasn’t going anywhere for a while,” he said.

“Then you get one bloke to commit and it’s rolled on nicely. Hopefully we can get a couple more, we’ll see how we go, and then be done by the end of the month and worry about pre-season.
