Griffith has made a solid start to the Warren Smith Cup season after they were able to pick up an opening round victory over arch-rivals Leeton on Sunday.

After Leeton won the toss and elected to bat they made a slow start with Tye Clancy (0) falling to the bowling of Ryan Bock while Angus Crelley (5) was knocked over by Angus Bartter to see the visitors sitting at 2/11 after three overs.
Jock Yelland and Harrison Steele were facing a tough task to get their side back on track if they were to have any chance of setting a competitive total.
The third wicket stand lasted 40 overs with the partnership getting their side to 145 before Bock claimed the wicket of Yelland (63) who was caught by Harry Rowston.
In the pursuit of quick runs with seven overs left in the innings, Bock picked up the wicket of Steele (47) before Angus Bartter took two in quick succession with Fergus Cattanach (7) and Paris Crelley (3) falling in successive deliveries.
Dan Hillam (11) added late runs before he was run out by Bock to see Leeton reach the end of their 50 overs with a total of 7-180.
Aditha Jayasuriya and James Roche looked to get Griffith off to a good start, but with the score on 15, Cattanach (1-11) struck to remove Jayasuriya (9).
Thomas Camm then struck twice for the Leeton side to remove Roche (6) and Harry Rowston (2) to see Griffith fall to 3/30 and needing to rebuild their innings with Kyle Bennett and Oliver Bartter at the crease.
An 86-run partnership between Bennett and Bartter had Griffith looking comfortable in the chase before Bartter (38) was knocked over by Steele (2/34) who followed it up with the wicket of James Buchanan (3) while Yelland (1/18) took the wicket of Bennett (38).
At 6/123, Griffith needed another 56 runs with 11 overs remaining Tom, and Angus Bartter looked to guide their side to victory.
While Tom (31) was dismissed by Hillam (31) with the score on 166, Angus (15*) and Jordan Whitworth (3*) were able to guide their side to a three-wicket win with eight overs to spare.
In the next round of fixtures on November 25, Griffith will be at home again this time taking on Wagga Blue while Leeton will travel to take on South West who lost to Wagga White.
