The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) have declared a total fire ban for Northern Riverina Zone for Friday.

The ban was declared ahead of windy and hot conditions which are forecast for January 18.
The Northern Riverina zone includes the northern parts of Murrumbidgee Council area, as well as Leeton, Hay, Carrathool, Griffith and Narrandera.
Total fire bans are also in place for the Southern Riverina, Eastern Riverina, Lower Central West Plains, Southern Slopes and large parts of the state.
No fires may be lit in the open and all fire permits are suspended during a total fire ban.
Gas and electric barbeques may be used provided certain conditions are met.
Resident are being encouraging to follow their bushfire survival plan.
Under ‘Severe’ fire and ‘Very High’ fire conditions the RFS says a well prepared home which is actively defended can provide safety in the event of a fire.
The total fire ban begins at midnight.
