The Panthers made the bold call to send Exies into bat but were able to make the most of that decision with Teei Piawi picking up a wicket with the fourth ball of the innings.
Dan Brady (44) was the mainstay for Exies while Jamie Winkler (14) and Jonathan Streat (18) played supporting roles. Tight bowling from Piawi (2/21), Dan Bozic (2/16), Kierran Williams (2/15) and Babar Safdar (2/17) helped Leagues to restrict Exies to 9/119 off their 40 overs.
While Leagues lost Ted Jones (0), they were able to ensure they didn’t slide into trouble with Derek Opo (16) and Shane Makea (17) providing a platform for the Panthers. Williams (60*) and Piawi (20) were key as Leagues were able to pick up a five-wicket bonus-point win.
Diggers have all but secured their place in the second-grade finals after a great batting performance set them up for success over Coro.
Mick Duncan (75) lead the way while Leon Vico (34) and Damien Browning (45) played supporting roles in the middle order as Diggers were able to post 8/207 after 40 overs. Jack Hutchinson (3/51) and Justin Moat (2/22) were the picks of the bowlers for the Cougars.
Brett Crooks (14) was the only top order batsmen for the Cougars to get a start as Browning (5/18) was destructive with the ball on his way to five-wicket haul.
Claire Murray (14*) and John Witherspoon (9) tried to offer some resistance late before Witherspoon was the last wicket to fall when he was caught off the bowling of Will Griggs (1/8) to see Coro bowled out for 73 and handed Diggers 134-run bonus-point win.
Coleambally sit on the edge of the top four after losing to Hanwood on Saturday. Sam Casey (24), Kurt Wieldaraayer (16) and Shaun Iddles (16) were the only Nomads to get a start as Oliver Bartter (3/18), Luke Catanzariti (2/17) and Angus Bartter (2/11) did the damage with the ball as Coleambally posted 105.
Charlie Simpson (30) lead the way for Hanwood while Zac Ruediger (11) added late runs as despite Phil Turtle (2/10) and Blake Wiseman (3/13) bowling well in the middle overs Hanwood came away with a one-wicket win.
