Following a $419,460 grant from the NSW Government the JOC, of which Murrumbidgee Council is a member, will be developing a contaminated land management policy framework and site register.
The JOC will also employ a skilled contaminated land professional for up to three years who will help train council staff on contaminated land management.
“Their expertise will assist councils when they are dealing with land contamination issues (like those) arising from historical underground fuel tank leaks or land which was formerly used for industrial activities for example,” member for Murray Austin Evans said.
