The festival is a fundraiser for Hillston resident Deyan Cashmere who's life was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with the Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in March last year.

Since then the Cashmere family have been trying desperately to raise the $600,000 needed for Deyan to travel to the United States and receive a still experimental treatment for the disease.

Even before Deyan's diagnosis the Cashmere family were doing it tough, struggling with drought at sheep and dry land farm.

Having grown up on a similar farm in Condobolin, the Cashmeres’ story was obviously enough to give Nollsie's heartstrings a pluck and  motivate him to join the festival.

“I know we all band together and help each other out wherever and whenever we can but this one’s a big one," Mr Noll said.

"A bush kid, just 20 years old needs a huge helping hand and support to get what he needs and I wasn’t going to say no, so here I come Hillston, let’s make it a huge night in support of Deyan.”

Although he will be in United States when the festival gets under way, Deyan said he was stoked that Nollsie was coming and was happy that the festival will benefit the whole town.

“Its great, neighbors and every one through Hillston have all pitched in to get this Live on the Lachlan going," Deyan said.

“I am excited for the locals as well, Harriet Kelly she was a few years younger than me at school so it’s good that she has jumped on and helped me out."

The Bushwackers, Wobbly Boot, and Tess Melton and Hillston's Jorja Dalton will also play at the festival kicking off April 13.
