The One Nation candidate has the backing of party leaders Pauline Hanson and Mark Latham.
A councillor for almost 20 years with Murray Shire, Mr Weyrich has also been mayor and deputy mayor.
He currently works full-time as a motor mechanic, operating is own business in Moama.
Water security is the biggest issue he sees moving forward for the Murray electorate.
If elected, Mr Weyrich said he will approach Victoria and NSW and have the plan in its current form thrown out.
"My first order of business is I would go to the Victorians with the view of having NSW and Victoria leave the Murray-Darling Basin Plan … blow it up and start again," he said.
"People say 'pause the plan' - it sounds very good, but in reality all that would do is just make another 200 meetings over two years with 30 irrigating groups and the outcome would more than likely be the same.
"We need to start again."
Mr Weyrich visited Griffith earlier this year with Mr Latham where the pair met with residents and discussed their thoughts and issues.
He was a previous member of the National Party around 15 years ago for a short time, but Mr Weyrich believes the electorate has had enough of the Nationals.
"We're just not getting the results," he said.
"The water is obviously the main topic, but for a long time I have been very, very unhappy with the Nats.
"They told us there wasn't going to be forced amalgamations and look what has happened down here … that cost the shire of Murray $250,000 to try and come up with a different solution for something that was going to be anyway.
"People are crying out for change."
Mr Weyrich has still been working full-time while trying to travel around the electorate and speak to as many constituents as possible.
He believes the disenchantment being felt will spark more interest in politics in the region.
