A boon for the Hindu residents already in Griffith, this temple also marks the first of its kind built in a regional centre in NSW outside Sydney.

Griffith City Council unanimously approved the development application for Harward Road, which will see a building built with a 20 space car park.

Hindu community leader Nimish Patel is excited at what this building will represent.

"To have this will be really amazing, we are very happy to have approval," Mr Patel said.

"It will give the local community a place to collect, pray, and it will be beautiful."

The city was chosen due to the current and projected Hindu population, and is set to boost tourism and economic activity, attracting people from across the Riverina region.

Mr Patel said at this stage, plans will be underway within a matter of weeks, with construction not far to follow.

With two objections to the DA detailing concerns over potential noise issues from praying and traffic, Mr Patel said a particular hurdle for them was to raise awareness about the type of worship place it would be.

"It is just a quiet place for people to collect and pray together," he explained.

The proposed new building and car parking areas have been purposefully located a considerable distance from surrounding buildings, which will reduce the likelihood of noise generated by visitors.

He said praying will occur within the hall and speakers will not be placed on the outside of the building.

"Griffith is an amazing community, and we accept everyone. It is open to each and every person, all are welcome all the time, anytime. We pray for world peace."
