The loss for the Hay side has also put a dent in their slim chances of making finals as they now side four wins outside the top five with five games remaining.
A hat-trick to Drew Hopwood and a double to Ben Jeffery led the way for the Roosters with Robbie Simpson and Ethan Harris rounding out the scoring for the home side.
For the Magpies, Brad Pocock scored a hat-trick while Patrick Miller was the only other try scorer for the Hay side.
The win for the Roosters gives them a six-point lead over the Black and Whites and win over the Panthers in their clash next weekend would all but secure their place in finals.
