The council's draft policy on shipping containers has been released for public exhibition.
The policy aims to define requirements and limits on the placement and use of shipping containers in the region.
Murrumbidgee Council planning and environment manager Kelly Tyson said the policy aims to ensure containers are integrated naturally into communities to keep the area attractive.
"Council wants to ensure that the future use of shipping containers do not detrimentally affect the quality of our private and public spaces," Mrs Tyson said.
"That way, we can help to make sure our town and rural areas are attractive, which entice people to live here, particularly with a view to growing and developing our communities.
"I encourage people who are considering installing a shipping container to contact Council for further clarification."
