The state has endured a difficult start to the bushfire season after hot and dry conditions and strong winds fuelled dozens of blazes, which destroyed 17 homes mostly in the state's south this month.
The threat of the fires eased last week, but about 30 fires continue to burn across the state and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services is warning the worst could be to come.
"I'm sure the westerly, dry winds will kick in again at some point," QFES acting deputy commissioner Neil Gallant told the ABC.
But the Bureau of Meteorology believes fire danger ratings across much of the state will remain at high this week due to increased moisture, rather than the 'very high' and 'severe' levels observed earlier in the month.
