Coleambally Lions Club member Ian Eddie was awarded with life membership to the Lions during a recent visit from District Governor Peter Bright.
Mr Eddie has worked to maintain the grounds of Coleambally's Lions Park for the past 15 years and said it was an honour to receive the accolade.
"I didn't expect it," Mr Eddie said.
"Other blokes have been there a lot longer than me."
A former local of Jerilderie, Mr Eddie moved to Coleambally and joined the Lions Club in 2004, where he took over the role of helping maintain the park on a temporary basis.
"I've been doing it now for 15 years," Mr Eddie said.
"When you're retired you've got to have something to do.
"It gets me out of the house and keeps me out of the pubs."
Mr Eddie said since starting his work with the Lions, the park has seen four new sections of lawn added to the park with plans to keep the park looking pristine over the coming summer months.
Lions club president Perry Hardy said the recognition was deserved for all the work Mr Eddie had done during his time with the club.
"He's a quiet achiever," Mr Hardy said.

Lions treasurer Ian Sutherland said Mr Eddie shows a large amount of pride in his work with the park, with a common warning to locals being to avoid his freshly mowed grass.
"If one of the sprinklers go out, he goes and fixes it himself," Mr Sutherland said.
"But if he is away on an extended holiday and you go to mow the lawn, you need to make sure you get it right!"
Affectionately known as 'Tank' by many members of the club, Mr Eddie said while his nickname comes from his time spent playing Australian rules football in Jerilderie, he joked his nickname comes from somewhere else.
"I'm named after a septic tank, and you know what they are full of," Mr Eddie said.
The Coleambally Lions meet on the first and third Thursday of each month at the Coleambally Community Club, with meetings starting at 7.30pm.
