AFL Riverina released the Riverina and Farrer League draws for the 2020 season on Thursday night with the blockbuster season opener one of the highlights.
The two Wagga clubs reintroduced Good Friday football last season but this year it will be thrust further into the spotlight being the first game of the new season.
Tigers will unveil their premiership flag before an intriguing showdown between the two clubs.
Wagga Tigers president Anthony Lyons believes the Good Friday fixture is a winner and is looking forward to opening the Riverina League season with the big event.
"After the initial game last year and seeing the crowd there and the atmosphere, it was fantastic," Lyons said.
"We're looking forward to having the same event this year. I think it's a fantastic idea."
Tigers are considering a later 'twilight' event next year with potentially a 5pm start for first grade football.
The season opener will technically be a round seven fixture, with both Tigers and Turvey Park will then get an extra bye on the June long weekend.
The Farrer League season starts a week earlier, on April 4, and two weeks before the remainder of the Riverina League.
Bar the Good Friday standalone fixture, there will be no other football over the Easter weekend. Farrer League have a general bye, while Riverina League's round one is pencilled in for April 18.
A representative bye has been scheduled for May 16-17 in both competitions.
Only one game is scheduled for Anzac Day, with East Wagga-Kooringal to host rivals North Wagga in a grand final rematch at Gumly Oval.
The remaining seven games, in both Farrer and Riverina, will be held the following day, Sunday, April 26.
Farrer League's Anzac Challenge between Marrar and The Rock-Yerong Creek will not take place next year, with the Bombers playing Northern Jets at home instead.
North Wagga will unfurl their premiership flag at home in round one against Northern Jets.
The Farrer League grand final is set for Saturday, September 12.
The Riverina League grand final is the following week, Saturday, September 19.
The Riverina League grand final will clash with the Southern Inland grand final, and most likely the Ag races at Murrumbidgee Turf Club.
The Farrer League under 17.5 fixture will be put together in the new year, once teams have been confirmed.
