Olympic rifle shooter Warren Potent has been named Murrumbidgee Council's Australia Day ambassador for 2020.

Mr Potent is a five-time Olympian, having represented the country at every Olympic Games between 2000 and 2016.
He is Australia's first ever winner of an Olympic medal for rifle shooting, claiming a bronze medal in the 2008 50-meter rifle prone event.
Ranked the world's top prone rifle shooter six times during the course of his career, Mr Potent has claimed three Commonwealth Games medals - including a gold in 2014 - and two world championships, one in 1986 as part of a three-man team and one solo in 2014.

Mr Potent also holds two Commonwealth records for shooting and is one of only two people in the world to have been Commonwealth and World Champion simultaneously.
Coleambally will kick off Murrumbidgee Council's Australia Day celebrations in the region with breakfast at John McInnes Square at 8am.
Lunch will be held in Darlington Point before the day wraps up with dinner near Jerilderie Lake.
