Limited supplies of toilet paper and some basic pantry items has also affected South Australian country supermarket sites due to panic buying brought on by the state's fresh cluster of COVID-19 infections.

Social media platforms lit up on Monday evening with many shoppers left angry and frustrated by near empty bare shelves, especially in the toilet paper aisle.

Staff at Foodland in Bordertown are among the outlets to feel the pinch following the new statewide restrictions announced by the SA government that same day.

"We really noticed it yesterday afternoon," Foodland area manager Karen Johnstone said.

Ms Johnstone was further astounded how Monday night's delivery of goods didn't fill the shelves long on Tuesday morning.

"I had a look this morning and went wow," she explained.

Supermarkets in SA further record the returned demand for hand sanitisers and masks.

However, Ms Johnstone said there are still items, such as the Australian grown frozen vegetables, which the Foodland hasn't be able to restock for some time due to earlier coronavirus restrictions.

The recent situation prompted staff to put up signage advising the purchase of two items of toilet paper only per customer.

"Hopefully people settle," she said.

But added the staff understand how the latest outbreak has rattled their community.

"I think people are really worried and if they don't have to come out for awhile they won't... they want to stock up on their staples and that's fine everyone has their reasons, we all have family that we want to keep safe."

Ms Johnstone said through this, "we we just need to be kind to each other and have a bit of understanding."
