The case is one of 864 new cases in NSW on Friday and one of seven new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD).
According to the MLHD, the Griffith resident acquired the infection outside of the District and has been in isolation since returning home.
The news comes after sewerage testing in the Griffith Local Government Area came back as positive and then negative in a second test last month.
Member for Murray, Helen Dalton and noted the case was 'identified quickly and well contained.'
"There is no need to panic, Griffith is not going into lockdown at this stage," Mrs Dalton said.
"Even if we do, supermarkets and essential shops will remain open - so no need to rush out and buy toilet paper."
There are currently no venues of concerned identified by the MLHD however this may change as close and casual contacts are identified by contact tracers in the coming days.
