The Murrumbidgee Local Health District is also reporting the death of a man in his 80s who died at Albury Base Hospital after acquiring COVID-19 at Corowa Hospital.

The man had received one dose of a COVID vaccine.

"Murrumbidgee LHD expresses its deepest condolences to the man's family, friends and loved ones," a spokesperson said.

On Friday the MLHD reported 13 new cases of COVID-19, with six of these being residents of the Federation LGA.

Three cases are residents of Albury, and two residents of Wagga.

A single case was reported in the Griffith LGA, with one case also diagnosed in the Murray River LGA.

Fragments of the virus have been detected in West Wyalong, Moama, Albury, Deniliquin and Barooga in the past 24 hours, the health district also reported.

Currently 97.8 per cent of people over 16 across the MLHD have received their first dose of a COVID vaccine, and 93 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Of the 12-15 age group in the MLHD, 83.2 per cent have received their first dose and 69.9 per cent are fully immunised.

The MLHD is currently managing the clinical care of 96 patients across the district with the virus.

One patient is in the ICU, and the rest are receiving care in the community.

Meanwhile, the MLHD is encouraging those eligible to come forward for a COVID vaccination booster shot, with NSW Health state-run clinics now offering Pfizer to those over 18.

People over 18 are eligible to receive a booster dose at least six months after receiving their second primary dose.

"This booster shot will help people maintain a high level of protection against the COVID-19 virus, including the Delta variant," an MLHD spokesperson said.

Across the state case numbers have dropped, with 216 new infections reported on Friday, and three deaths.

Just over 91 per cent of NSW residents over 16 have now been fully vaccinated, while 94.3 per cent have had at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.

There are currently 196 COVID patients in hospital, with 28 in the ICU.

Yesterday, 72,893 tests were conducted which was down on the previous day's total of 80,402.

Vaccinations can be booked at more than 100 providers across the Riverina by using healthdirect.gov.au.

"Anyone currently experiencing, or who has recently experienced, even mild cold-like symptoms is asked to come forward for testing," an MLHD spokesperson said.

"If you have any symptoms it is important that you isolate until you can be tested and until you get a negative result.

"Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, sore throat, cough, headache, runny nose, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches or pains, and a change in taste or smell."
