THE DPC league tag women face their moment of truth this weekend in a finals do-or-die clash with Yenda at Wade Park.
The DPC side has been a revelation this year, coming off a two-win season in 2012 but knocking on the door for finals in 2013.
After the weekend’s agonising 10-all draw with Group 20 powerhouse the Griffith Black and Whites, DPC is confident it can beat Yenda and leapfrog the side into fifth position.
“I honestly think we can roll Yenda,” DPC coach Cameron Muir said.
“It’s our most important game of the season. If we lose we’re out of the finals and if we win we’re in.”
He said the side’s recent steely defence was the key to knocking over Yenda.
“We kept the Black and Whites to 10 points and we need to do the same with Yenda,” Muir said.
“It’s also about backing each other up in attack.”
The side has been bolstered by the injection of ex-Waratahs duo Sarah Pearl and Candace Vearing and former Hurricanes player Bree Coelli.
“They’ve been a massive boost to the team but it’s taken us half a season to really start clicking,” Muir said.
He also paid tribute to speed demon Alysia Hopwood, who has formed a strong partnership with Pearl in attack.
Despite the disappointing form of the men’s first grade side, it’s still been a solid year for the club, with the 16s undefeated and the 18s and reserve grade sides finals bound.
