Committee member Haidee Laycock said online registrations for the event had proved popular.
However, she said most people were expected to register at Apex Park on Friday.
“Hopefully this year is as successful as last year when we had registrations from all across the Riverina, but also people as far from home as Western Australia, northern Queensland and northern NSW,” Ms Laycock said.
“Hopefully they enjoyed themselves as much as we did putting on the event and they will be back this year.”
Ms Laycock said the Darlington Point and Coleambally communities were very supportive of last year’s event.
She said it would not be possible without the volunteers who organise it.
“The event would not happen without the volunteers and although we have a committee of 16, there has been tremendous support from community members in Darlington Point, Coleambally and Griffith volunteering to help in any way they can,” Ms Laycock said.
She said the event required a collective effort and everyone had banded together to raise money for the Prostate Foundation and ensure the long-term sustainability of the river.
Organisers hope to raise $20,000.
Ms Laycock said there was more than $50,000 worth of prizes on offer this weekend, including an A Stacer 399 Proline Angler and a Stacer 429 Proline Angler.
Organisers will release 3000 golden perch and Murray cod fingerlings into the Murrumbidgee River.
Entry is $50 for adults and $20 for children.
There will also be a range of family entertainment and market stalls at the event.
