ROBERTSON Oval is set to host the Farrer League grand final for a second consecutive year.
Farrer League president David Oehm and his competition management committee (CMC) will make the recommendation to clubs at the next delegates meeting on July 18.
The Farrer League grand final was moved away from its traditional home at Maher Oval last year due to the construction of a motel at The Rules Club.
The move to Robertson Oval proved a spectacular success and has the Farrer League set to return with their biggest day of the year.
“The grand final will be at Robbo Oval again,” Oehm said.
“That will be our recommendation and it just has to be ratified at the next delegates meeting.
“We’re put there to make decisions and the facilities, playing surface and catering stuff, all that has to be considered.
“Given the success of last year, we have decided to go with Robbo Oval again.”
A record gate of $32,612 turned out last year to watch The Rock-Yerong Creek edge out East Wagga-Kooringal in a thrilling grand final.
The motel at The Rules Club is expected to be completed by the end of July so Maher Oval would have been available for the Farrer League grand final to return.
Although sticking with Robertson Oval, Farrer League are keen to return to Maher Oval in some capacity with the CMC keen to host some of the earlier finals at the venue.
While still pending a discussion with clubs and the weather over the next six weeks, all Farrer finals are set to be held in Wagga.
McPherson Oval is likely to host the qualifying final in the first week of finals, while the elimination final is tipped for Robertson Oval.
From there, the remaining finals would be split between Maher Oval and Robertson Oval.
Meantime, Farrer League’s Gerald Clear Medal night is booked in for The Rules Club’s Jezza Room after being held in the club’s auditorium last year due to renovations.
