Shannon Ferguson was the lucky recipient of a Coleambally-Darlington Point Country Education Foundation grant.
Shannon is loving the first year of her course at the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School where she is studying for her Bachelor of Business in International Hotel and Resort Management.
She is finding her course extremely interesting with business based subjects as well as the hospitality side.
Highlights have included wine and cheese tasting, working in the kitchen, learning about cocktails and making coffee and expresso based drinks.
While she admits to being homesick at the start, she has now made lots of new friends.
Shannon has used her grant to buy textbooks and uniforms.
The Country Education Foundation helps rural and regional communities support their local school-leavers – and in doing so, to invest in the future of rural and regional Australia.
The foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation.
