The new display will have the title “Telling Our Stories,” and will feature items that have an interesting story to them.
Articles already selected from the museum collection include the cabin trunk brought by an Irish immigrant in the early 20th century, a carved wood souvenir collected by a World War I soldier during his service in the Middle East, and the dress worn by a small bridal attendant at a wedding in 1944.
Members of the community are also being invited to take part by contributing something, on loan, for the display.
“In other words, we are looking for hidden treasures,” said secretary Mona Finley.
These may not be of great monetary value, but each would have a connection to a certain event, or person, a special memory, or perhaps the story would be in how the article came to be where it is today.
Anyone who wishes to arrange the loan of an item can contact heritagedp@hotmail.com, or phone the secretary on 6968 4130.
Please be assured all care will be taken with items on loan.
