COMMENTS from the community are being called upon to help Murrumbidgee Council develop its Statement of Vision and Priorities.

The statement is a requirement of the Department of Premier and Cabinet for all newly merged councils.
The draft statement was created using extensive community and staff input as well as information contained within the Community Strategic Plan of both former councils.
“This statement will guide Council until a single Community Strategic Plan is developed for Murrumbidgee Council,” administrator Austin Evans said.
“I see this as a really valuable document because it shows what we want to see from Council in the future.
“I thank those who have already provided feedback and encourage interested residents to attend the upcoming stakeholder sessions.”
The draft document outline councils priorities as:
- Providing infrastructure and recreational facilities to meet the communities need for today and the future.
- Supporting existing community, agriculture and business operations to identify opportunities for advancement.
- Working with the community to actively engage and involve locals in planning for the future.
- Supporting activities that provide social, sporting, economic and community growth opportunities.
- Being open and transparent in decision making.
If any residents would like to have their say on the Statement which can be found in full on council’s website, they are able to me a written submission to council or attend stakeholder sessions scheduled for Tuesday, March 21, from 5pm to 6.30pm at Jerilderie Council Chambers, Thursday, March 23, from 5pm to 6.30pm at Coleambally Community Hall and Thursday, March 30, from 5pm to 6.30pm at Darlington Point’s CWA hall.
Written submissions should be mailed to PO Box 5, Darlington Point, NSW, 2706 or delivered to your local council office.
