The under 18s side included five Coly boys who made up the backbone of the Farrer side.
All boys performed well throughout the game to contribute to Farrer’s comfortable 13.14 (92) to 5.6 (36) win.
Harry Tooth kicked four goals for the day while the others, Chris Hayes, Jack Cullen, Tom Mannes and Ryan Mannes, all played strong games in their respective positions.
Adam White was named best-on-ground and Lachie Leary and Keigan King were among others to have big games.
Coleambally was also represented by senior player Tom Groves who was instrumental in the Farrer League’s victory over Oven’s and King.
Speaking of that game, David Oehm’s only one way to describe that match on Saturday night – sensational.
The Farrer League president was buzzing after their successful trip south to take on the Ovens and King League.
The senior team’s 27-point win at Wangaratta capped a fine day out.
“It’s sensational for us as a league to be in the heartland in Victoria – there’s no rugby league or rugby union down here,” Oehm said.
“It puts points on the board for our league and our representative program.”
The senior football win restored pride for the Farrer League after last year’s comprehensive loss to the Black Diamond League and was only the organisation’s second success in eight years.
“I always thought we’d do very well in the 18s and I was quietly confident in the seniors but I wasn’t thinking to the tune of 30-odd points,” Oehm said.
“The whole 22 were committed to the coach and the league and the coach was committed to the players and the league.”
In the opens netball, Georgia Fuller was the standout in a 60-33 win.
Over in the under 18s match, Kaitlin Staines was best-on-court in her side’s victory.
